Underwater Crime Scene Investigator Diver Course

International course - 2 weeks

This course is designed for students and professionals. It has a solid grounding in underwater  forensics. The course focuses on knowledge building and skills creation with interactive learning in the underwater aspects of forensic diving.

The training includes the following:

Week 1: basic diving course PADI open water diver including:

  • Theory
  • 5 scuba dives in confined water (swimming pool)
  • 4 scuba dives in open water (lake/ocean)

Week 2: Underwater Crime Scene Investigator Diver

Theory:

  • Introduction to underwater taphonomy,
  • Preservation of an underwater crime scene,
  • Role of underwater forensics,
  • Underwater forensic traces (detection and collection),
  • Underwater crime scene management
  • Introduction firearms

Practice:

  • Training and familiarization with the:
  • underwater air lift
  • underwater drone
  • underwater metal detector (two types: Fisher and Ebinger)
  • full face mask (two types: Interspiro and Oceanreef) with communication protocols
  • gopro camera for photography and video
  • multiparameter photometer for testing waterquality for 12 parameters (pH, dissolved oxygen, copper, phosphorus, phosphate, chlorine, calcium, ammonia, alkalinity, nitrite)
  • sampling and collecting DNA
  • sampling and collecting fingerprints
  • sampling and collecting bloodtraces
  • applying underwater searchpatterns
  • salvaging objects with special tubes
  • body recovering

Cost euro 3250, which includes accommodation, catering, transport.

Cost euro 1400, without PADI open water course, only one week training

International course - 4 weeks

This course builds on the two week course with another two weeks of expanded practical training and lectures . Also scenario training in the underwater training facility. The training includes the following:

  • speciality Underwater air lift: two days, four dives, 400 euro
  • speciality Underwater drone: two days, four dives, 400 euro
  • speciality Underwater metal detector: two days, four dives, 400 euro
  • speciality Full Face mask with communication: two days, four dives, 400 euro
  • speciality Underwater photography and video: two days, four dives, 400 euro
  • speciality Scuba Eco Nutrient: two days, four dives, 400 euro
  • speciality Public Safety diver: two days, four dives, 400 euro

Safety training

  • basic life support (BLS): Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for adults and children: 1/2 day, 100 euro
  • Oxygen first aid for divers: 1/2 day, 100 euro
  • Stop the bleed, life-threatening bleeding: 1/2 day, 100 euro
  • First aid: 1 day, 100 euro

Extra costs:

The Underwater Crime scene field kit, including all the materials necessary for underwater forensic diving: 5000 euro
